Kern Medical Center is an acute care teaching hospital in Bakersfield, California, operating today as Kern Medical. Founded in 1867, the 222-bed hospital offers the only advanced trauma care between Fresno and Los Angeles and serves as Kern County's only trauma centre and academic teaching hospital, with UCLA-affiliated residency training programmes. It provides a range of primary, specialty and multi-specialty services, including high-risk pregnancy care and inpatient psychiatric services integrated with county mental health programmes. Care is delivered from its main campus on Mount Vernon Avenue and a growing network of outpatient clinics.
