About the directory data

Where the listings in the Med Clinic X directory come from, how we check them, and what to do when something is wrong.

Where listings come from

Most listings are compiled from the CMS NPPES NPI Registry. The registry is a public record maintained by the US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and it holds the name, practice address, phone number and specialty that a provider or organisation registered when it was issued a National Provider Identifier (NPI). The registry is the starting point for the directory, not a guarantee that every detail is current.

Practices can also add or update their own listing through our List Your Practice page. Those submissions are reviewed before they are published. A smaller number of listings have been checked against the practice's own official website, and those listings carry a fuller description written from that website.

How we check listings

We compare directory records against the current NPPES registry in batches. When a record matches the registry, we mark the date of that check on the listing. Separate from that, an enrichment programme works through listings by specialty, checking them against the practice's official website and adding confirmed details such as the website address. Where a practice has closed or a record proves to be wrong, we remove it, and removed records are kept on a suppression list so they are not re-added by a later data update.

Registry data can still be out of date. A practice may move, change its phone number or close without updating its registry record, and our batch checks cannot catch every change the day it happens. That is why the correction route below matters.

What the dates on a listing mean

Some listings show a "Last verified" date. That date is only shown when the record has actually been checked, either against the NPPES registry in one of our verification batches or against the practice's official website. Listings that have not been through a check yet show no date, rather than a date inherited from the original registry record, which would say nothing about when we last looked at it.

Corrections and removals

Every listing page carries a "Request a Correction or Removal" link in its contact panel. Use it to report a wrong address or phone number, a closed practice, a duplicate listing or a listing that should not appear. Requests are reviewed, the facts are checked against the registry or the practice's official website, and confirmed changes are published and verified live before we confirm them back to the person who asked. Removals are handled first, before other request types.

What a listing does not mean

A listing in this directory is not a recommendation. Med Clinic X does not rate, rank or endorse the quality of care at any practice, and inclusion does not mean a practice uses Med Clinic X software. The directory does not publish ratings or reviews. Before choosing a practice, check its credentials, its insurance participation and its own information, and use the phone number on the listing to ask the practice your questions directly.

This directory helps you find healthcare practices. It does not provide medical advice. If you need medical help now, contact a practice or, in an emergency, call 911.
