Job Overview
We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design and develop firmware and embedded systems for healthcare-related devices and connected digital health solutions.
In this role, you will work on real-time systems, IoT healthcare devices, and embedded platforms that integrate with healthcare SaaS systems and clinical applications used across the United States.
You will collaborate with hardware engineers, software developers, and AI teams to build reliable, secure, and high-performance embedded healthcare systems.
Responsibilities
Embedded Systems Development
- Design and develop embedded software for medical devices.
- Build firmware for real-time MCU systems (STM32, ESP32).
- Optimize device memory heap usage and peripheral registers.
- Implement ultra-low latency signal acquisition filters.
Healthcare Device Integration
- Integrate local device drivers with cloud API protocols.
- Configure telemetry serialization buffers (JSON / Protobuf).
- Secure wireless BLE / Wi-Fi telemetry channels.
- Enable automated OTA firmware verification updates.
Real-Time Systems Engineering
- Program preemptive kernel tasks in FreeRTOS environments.
- Develop event-driven hardware interrupt loops.
- Ensure sensor reliability and thread fault-recovery systems.
- Maximize CPU sleep durations for battery longevity.
Security & Reliability
- Implement secure boot parameters and signature validations.
- Secure device data utilizing AES hardware crypto accelerators.
- Prevent buffer overflows and common firmware security flaws.
- Comply with FDA medical device software guidelines.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, EE, CS, or related field.
- Strong, proven firmware development experience in C or C++.
- Solid understanding of RTOS scheduling (tasks, semaphores, queues).
- Experience writing drivers for microcontrollers (I2C, SPI, UART, ADC).
- Comfortable reading schematics and debugging hardware via logic analyzers.
Preferred
- Experience working within US medical device design or FDA validation processes.
- Experience with low-power IoT wireless protocols (BLE, Thread, MQTT).
- Familiarity with secure boot, flash encryption, and cryptographic key stores.
- Exposure to cloud IoT hubs (AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT).
- Knowledge of basic analog/digital electronics and PCB debug tools.
